At TheHonores, we believe that transparency is part of telling the research story responsibly. This Disclosure page explains how we handle contributor interests, funding and affiliations, editorial independence, sponsored or paid content, sourcing, and corrections.

Our aim is simple: help readers understand not only what research says, but also the context surrounding it.

Our Independence

TheHonores is an independent research and science communication publication focused on making scientific research more accessible, understandable, and useful to a general audience.

TheHonores does not currently receive external sponsorship or funding for its editorial content. Editorial decisions are intended to be based on the relevance, evidentiary value, and public interest of the research, rather than on financial sponsorship.

Independence does not mean that research or editorial interpretation is free from uncertainty or differing perspectives. We aim to make the basis for our coverage clear by identifying relevant sources, disclosures, and limitations where appropriate.

Contributor Disclosures

TheHonores seeks to provide readers with relevant information about financial or non-financial interests that could reasonably be relevant to the content being published.

Contributors may be asked to disclose relevant interests associated with a submission, including:

Financial interests: research funding, grants, consulting relationships, honoraria, patents, equity interests, or other relevant financial relationships.
Professional or institutional interests: relevant affiliations, advisory roles, or organizational relationships.
Other relevant interests: personal or professional relationships or circumstances that could reasonably be perceived as relevant to the content.
Research funding: external funding or other support received for the research being discussed.

An institutional or professional affiliation is not, by itself, treated as evidence of a conflict of interest. The relevance of a disclosed interest depends on the circumstances and the subject matter of the submission.

Where no relevant competing interests are identified, a contributor may provide a statement such as: “No competing financial or non-financial interests to declare.”

Disclosure is intended to give readers additional context. It does not by itself establish that a study, contributor, or organization is biased or that the underlying research is unreliable.

How We Handle Content

Our goal is to make research clear, interesting, and approachable, without losing the science. Submissions and other material considered for publication may be reviewed and edited for factual accuracy, clarity, sourcing, and relevance.

Where applicable, we identify and link to the underlying research publication or other authoritative source so readers can examine the original material for themselves. We distinguish between primary research and secondary sources where that distinction is relevant to understanding the evidence.

Editorial changes may be made to improve readability, organization, and context. Such changes are intended to preserve the meaning of the underlying research and do not constitute independent scientific validation of the study’s findings.

Our editorial process is designed to provide readers with useful, evidence-aware explanations while recognizing that research findings may have limitations, uncertainties, and differing interpretations.

AI-Assisted Content

TheHonores may use AI and automated tools to assist with research organization, drafting, editing, or summarization. AI-assisted content is subject to human editorial review and comparison with relevant sources before publication.

Because AI can produce inaccurate or incomplete information, its use does not replace editorial judgment or source verification. The extent of AI assistance may vary between articles.

Corrections and Updates

TheHonores recognizes that errors, omissions, and changes in the underlying evidence can occur after publication. We review credible reports of factual errors, inaccurate representations of research, missing or incorrect disclosures, and other issues that may materially affect an article.

Depending on the nature of the issue, we may correct the affected content, add a clarification or disclosure, update the article, or take other appropriate editorial action. Where a material correction is made, we may identify the correction and the date of the update so that readers can understand what has changed.

If an underlying research publication is retracted, corrected, withdrawn, or otherwise materially changed, we may update our coverage to reflect that development where it is relevant to the article.

In serious cases where published content can no longer be responsibly maintained in its existing form, TheHonores may withdraw or remove the content.

Readers and contributors are encouraged to report suspected errors, omissions, or disclosure issues through the contact information provided on this page. Reports are reviewed on their merits and do not automatically result in a change to published content.

Tips for Readers

Research is rarely understood from a headline alone. Readers can get more from our coverage by looking beyond the summary:

Explore the underlying research: When an article is based on a research publication, we encourage readers to consult the original paper for the study’s methods, results, limitations, and full context.
Consider the disclosures: Funding, affiliations, and other relevant interests can provide useful context when evaluating research and commentary.
Look for limitations: A study’s findings may be limited by its design, sample, methods, or the evidence available at the time. A research finding is not necessarily the same as a proven fact or established consensus.
Tell us when something looks wrong: If you notice a factual error, missing disclosure, source issue, or other significant concern, contact us so we can review it.
